Our higher self is the being that lives within us and guides us toward our ideal selves. By connecting with it, we can gain greater clarity around our goals, desires, and the life we want to create. When we are aligned with both who we are now and who we aspire to become, our actions begin to support that vision more naturally.
The challenge is that we are not always connected to our higher selves. More often, we connect with our ego. We may think we desire material possessions or status, and sometimes we do, but often it’s more about the feelings those things represent. For example, you may think you want millions, but what you really want is the freedom that comes with not worrying about every dollar you spend. But I digress.
Let’s focus on connecting with the higher self through the act of journaling.
Journaling is a powerful practice because it allows you to move your thoughts out of your head and onto the page. It creates space for reflection, clarity, and self-discovery. Whether you’re seeking direction, healing from pain, or simply trying to understand yourself better, journaling can help you hear your own inner wisdom more clearly.
Today, though, we’ll focus on getting comfortable speaking with your higher self. As I mentioned in my previous journaling post (read here), you can use these prompts for traditional journaling or audio journaling. The choice is yours.
- “When do I feel most connected to myself?”
- “What am I pretending to want?”
- “What does freedom look like for me right now?”
- “What am I being invited to learn in this season?”
- “What would I do if I trusted myself completely?”
With these prompts, I encourage you to think deeply about what you’re truly craving. What feeling or experience are you chasing? Is it a stress-free life? Freedom? Peace? A sense of belonging?
What does your higher self embody?
Answer honestly. The more truthful you are with yourself, the more meaningful your reflections will become.
Congratulations on taking the first steps toward creating a life that feels aligned with who you truly are.
