When it comes to the daily grind, things can get bleak. Everything is turning grey and modern, and everyone’s rushing from one place to the next without stopping to smell the roses. But there’s still so much beauty in this world—it’s just being drowned out. Those soft-living moments that make life pretty and romantic are being forgotten.
I started romanticizing my life because, honestly, life had gotten heavy. Too heavy. And I was starting to feel sad. One day, I was talking to my therapist and she said something that changed everything: “This is your life. You can do whatever you want with it.”
And so I did.
I created a life filled with beauty and romance. And while not every day is candlelight and roses, there are enough sweet, grounding moments to keep me centered and at peace. That’s what makes it all worth it.
Romanticizing your life starts with intention. It doesn’t have to be big—it just has to be mindful.
Start small. Begin with gratitude. Gratitude is the practice of appreciating the little and the large in your life. Instead of thinking “I have so little,” reframe it: “My life is simple, and I’m thankful for my humble beginnings.” You don’t have to settle, but gratitude helps you notice the beauty you might overlook in the hustle of daily life.
Being thankful for a roof over your head, sunlight pouring in through your window, or a warm meal—those are the moments where romantic living starts.
“To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” — Oscar Wilde
How to Romanticize Your Life
1. Create a Morning Routine You Look Forward To
It doesn’t have to be elaborate. It can be as simple as putting on a playlist that sets the tone. I like to play jazz or classical music in the mornings. Then, I light incense—usually frankincense—to bless my space and begin the day with intention.
That small ritual makes my mornings sacred. Sometimes I find myself humming or dancing as I make coffee and feed my dog. That’s the magic.
2. Make Your Space Sacred
Your home should feel like a sanctuary. Decorate with things you love—thrifted finds, fresh flowers, vintage mirrors, candles. Anything that makes your space feel like your own little world.
For me, it’s plants and candles. I often joke that my house is a mini jungle, but walking in always makes me feel calm—like I’ve stepped back into my own oasis.
3. Indulge With Intention
Treating yourself should be a regular, intentional part of your life.
Play music and let it move through you. Don’t worry about how you look or finding the beat—just let your body release stagnant energy.
When you shower, light a candle, use a silky body wash, and follow it with a nourishing oil. Try doing your skincare by candlelight.
It’s not about being fancy—it’s about making the little things feel lovely.
4. Dress For You, Not For Them
I’m loving how more people are embracing this idea. Dress for the energy you want to embody—not for others.
Your wardrobe should reflect your journey and who you are, not trends. Whether it’s a vintage piece, a long flowing dress, or beautiful loungewear at home, wear what makes you feel beautiful.
5. Take Yourself Out
Go on solo coffee dates. Dress up for yourself. Bring a book or your headphones. Eat alone in that café or bistro you’ve been wanting to try—trust me, no one cares.
This is about making your day feel special. Give yourself the love and attention you deserve. You’re worth it, babe.
6. Slow Down & Be Present
When in doubt, slow down. Even the simplest moment can be romantic with the right mindset.
Folding laundry becomes an act of love with soft music playing. Drinking tea becomes a ceremony when you’re fully present. These are gentle ways to care for yourself and your space.
Romanticizing your life means choosing to see the magic. It’s about slowing down, practicing gratitude, and adding small touches that make everyday moments feel dreamy.
So journal your thoughts. Take photos of the way light hits your wall at golden hour. Leave love notes to yourself around the house.
Let it be soft. Let it be slow. Let it be yours.
