The start of a new cycle always feels like cracking open a fresh journal—clean pages, endless possibilities, and that little spark of excitement for what’s ahead. There’s something about this phase, the follicular phase, that whispers, “It’s time to begin again.”
Just after menstruation, when the body resets, estrogen levels start their steady climb. Slowly but surely, energy returns. Moods lift. Skin glows. It’s like springtime inside your body, no matter what the calendar says.
I always notice the shift when I wake up one morning and feel different—more open, more creative, more ready to say yes. It’s as if my mind and body are stretching after a long nap, shaking off the heaviness, and stepping into the light. It’s the perfect time to dream, to set intentions, and to lean into what feels good.
For me, that often means sitting down with my journal, letting my pen wander through my thoughts. What do I want to cultivate this cycle? More self-care? A creative project I’ve been putting off? A deeper connection with myself? The answers come easier now, without force.
Movement also feels different in this phase—lighter, more fluid. Instead of dragging myself to a workout, I find myself wanting to move. A morning walk, a dance session in my living room, a return to yoga that actually feels effortless. My body leads, and I follow.
Food follows the same rhythm. I crave fresh, vibrant meals—crisp greens, juicy citrus, protein that fuels without weighing me down. It’s not about restriction or rules; it’s about tuning in.
And then there’s the social energy. Suddenly, I want to be around people again. That text to a friend I’ve been meaning to send? Sent. The brunch date I’ve been postponing? Booked. Conversations feel lighter, ideas flow easier, and connection just feels right.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that this phase is made for possibility. It’s the time to plant seeds—small ones, big ones, ones I’m not even sure will bloom. I like to mark the shift with a tiny ritual: lighting a candle, speaking an intention aloud, writing it down somewhere I’ll see it.
“I embrace this new beginning with joy and confidence.”
“I am open to abundance and flow.”
Little reminders that this is just the beginning, and it’s already magical.
With love & moonlight,
Vintessa
