Spirits and Serenades: A Lavender Gin Lemonade Recipe

It was a slow evening. The kind of day where nothing was asked of me, yet it still felt heavy. Not a sad heaviness—just one of those days where my mind wouldn’t quiet, no matter how much meditation or soulful walking I tried.

I sat at the counter for a moment, staring out the window as the sunlight slowly poured into the living room.

Then I heard my pup in the corner, happily playing tug-of-war with one of his old toys, his ears flopping as he shook his head side to side. His gleeful playfulness always makes me smile—it softens something in me, easing that quiet, lingering weight.

The room felt warmer. I could hear birds outside. Everything shifted, just slightly.

It felt like the perfect moment to open a bottle and let the day—and the drink—hold me for a while.

Lately, I’ve been drawn to something that tastes like a warm day. A little bit of summer in a glass. With the sunlight pouring in the way it was, it felt right to lean into that feeling, even if just for a moment.

So I made a Lavender Gin Lemonade, a drink made with gin, fresh lemon, and lavender syrup. It’s light, a little floral, and perfect for a mid-day “why not” kind of moment.

I put on some music, and almost as if the universe agreed, I’ve Got Sunshine by Avery Sunshine started playing. The song moves through life’s struggles but holds onto gratitude—the sunshine, the small blessings, the things that remain steady.

A quiet reminder that even in off moments, there’s still something to hold onto.

By the time I took my first sip, I started humming. then singing. Then, dancing around my kitchen a little, letting the mood shift on its own.

Life gets heavy sometimes. But a little lemon, lavender, and gin—paired with the right song—can lighten it more than you’d expect.

So dance, sing, let the sunshine fall on you, and move through you. It’s one of the simplest ways to romanticize your life—and carry that feeling with you a little longer.

If you want to recreate this kind of moment, this is exactly what I made:

Ingredients:

• 2 oz gin (London dry or floral gin like Empress 1908 for extra depth)

• ¾ oz fresh lemon juice

• ½ oz lavender simple syrup (recipe below)

• 3–4 oz sparkling water or club soda (for a light fizz)

• Ice • Lemon slices & lavender sprigs for garnish

Lavender Simple Syrup:

• ½ cup water

• ½ cup sugar

• 1 tbsp dried culinary lavender (or a few fresh sprigs)

1. In a small saucepan, bring water and sugar to a simmer. Stir until the sugar dissolves.

2. Add lavender and let it steep for about 10–15 minutes.

3. Strain out the lavender and let the syrup cool. Store in the fridge for up to a week.

Instructions:

1. Fill a shaker with ice, then add gin, lemon juice, and lavender simple syrup.

2. Shake well and strain into a glass filled with ice.

3. Top with sparkling water or club soda for a refreshing fizz.

4. Garnish with a lemon slice and a sprig of lavender.

How do you add a little sunshine to your day?

With love & moonlight,
Vintessa
