Romanticize The Every Day How To Turn Your Mornings Into a Ritual of Tranquility

My mornings used to be a chaotic mess. I was always rushing—so much so that my dog accidentally learned what “quick pee” meant. The rest of my day would follow suit, leaving me feeling like I never had time for anything. But since embracing a slow living lifestyle, I’ve learned to savor the little moments and appreciate the beauty of the morning. I now notice the birdsong, the trees slowly waking from their evening slumber, and the sun gently kissing the world awake. It took some trial and error to find a rhythm that worked for me, but taking the time to embrace the day in all its beauty has been well worth it.

A Slow and Intentional Start

A beautiful morning begins the night before. A restful night’s sleep is essential, which means getting to bed at a reasonable hour. I usually head to bed around 11 PM—not just starting my nighttime routine, but actually getting under the covers. My calming evening ritual, which includes gentle movement and a warm cup of tea, helps me drift off with ease.

In the morning, I wake up a little earlier than necessary so I can take my time. I start by lying in bed for a few moments, checking in with my body, and sneaking in some extra puppy cuddles. When we’re both ready, I get up, open the blinds to let the morning light in, and make my bed. After a quick freshen-up, I move to my living room, open the blinds there as well, and take a moment to admire nature’s beauty.

Next, I start my electric kettle and head outside for a walk with my dog. It’s not just for him—it’s my time to clear my mind, listen to the birds, and watch the squirrels scurrying about. I missed their chatter during the cold winter months.

Once we’re back, I wash my hands and prepare my breakfast—usually rice cakes with blueberries, honey, and yogurt, sometimes oatmeal if I’m feeling hungrier. I put on some light jazz or classical music and always light incense to welcome the day.

Easing Into the Day

With my coffee in hand, I settle at my vanity to watch my favorite YouTuber rehash the latest drama. Their humor and engaging storytelling always put me in a good mood. As I watch, I do my makeup, draft social media posts, and engage with my followers. Once the video ends, I get dressed for the day. If I’m staying in, I opt for something comfortable and casual. If I’m heading out, I usually wear a long maxi skirt with a simple top—always weather-dependent.

And just like that, I ease into my day—a ritual designed to inspire peace, joy, and readiness for whatever comes my way.
