I love a place that looks and feels like a home. Don’t give me anything sterile or minimalistic—I need warmth, personality, and soul. I want a space that looks lived-in, not like a showroom.
That’s why I love the idea of upcycling wine bottles into other items. I’ve used them as vases and holders for skincare or soaps, but my all-time favorite use is as candle holders. The way the wax drips down the bottle reminds me of long nights spent writing, moments of passion, and dreamy evenings spent stargazing. It’s the essence of dreamy, romantic bohemian.
I incorporated this look into my room makeover—an act of self-love and creative expression. These candle holders have been such a beautiful addition.
Here’s how to get the look:
How to Make a Wine Bottle Candle Holder
You’ll Need:
- One long, tapered candle
- A lighter
- An empty wine bottle
Directions:
Thoroughly rinse out the wine bottle until it’s clean and free of any leftover wine. Let it dry completely.
Use the lighter to gently heat the base of the tapered candle until the wax begins to melt slightly. Once the wax softens, firmly press the candle into the mouth of the bottle. This helps seal it in place and creates a stable base so it won’t tip over.
To get that gorgeous wax-drip effect, you can either let it happen naturally over time or speed it up. For a quicker result: Use the lighter to warm the area around the candle’s wick without actually lighting it.
If the candle is already lit and pooling, use the lighter around the edge of the wax pool to encourage dripping. As the tip of the candle narrows, the wax will drip more easily each time you light it. That’s exactly what you want! When it’s time to replace the candle, gently pop out the old one (some wax may come with it).
Warm the base of your new candle and repeat the steps above.
I hope this helps!
With love & moonlight,
Vintessa
