Mornings set the tone for the rest of the day—at least, they do for me! Having a slow, intentional morning routine helps me align my mind, body, and soul. If you’re looking for a morning routine to inspire calm, focus, and mindfulness, here’s my simple, easy-to-follow ritual to help you start your day on the right foot.
6:30–7:00 AM: Wake-Up Time
I don’t keep a strict wake-up schedule. Let’s be honest—some mornings, I need a little extra time to just exist before diving into the day. However, I aim to wake up by 7:00 AM to avoid rushing. Giving myself this flexibility makes mornings feel less stressful.
7:00–7:15 AM: Light Stretching
Stretching is the perfect way to wake up my body. A big morning stretch feels so satisfying, especially when I hear my joints crack and feel my muscles loosen. I start with gentle wrist and neck rolls, followed by twisting my back. It’s my version of a wake-up call, signaling to my body that it’s time to get moving.
7:15–7:30 AM: Puppy Time and Prep
With my body awake, it’s time to take care of my little sidekick—my puppy. After his own morning stretches, he happily prances to the kitchen with me. I start my electric kettle and prep his breakfast. While the water heats and he eats, I use this time to pack my lunch for work.
I leave the radio on, playing classical music that fills the air with a peaceful ambiance. This small touch makes even mundane tasks feel elegant. Once my puppy finishes eating, I throw on a hoodie and leggings, and we head out for a quick morning walk.
The fresh air and quiet of my tree-dense neighborhood are refreshing. Walking under towering oaks and pines, with the occasional glimpse of the lake nearby, makes me feel grateful to live in this little nature oasis.
7:30–8:00 AM: Coffee and Makeup
Back home, my puppy takes his usual spot by the window, where he keeps watch over the street. Meanwhile, I prepare my coffee. I love the ritual of pouring hot water over freshly ground beans and watching the coffee drip into my favorite mug. It’s a small but grounding moment in my morning.
With coffee in hand, I head to my vanity and turn on YouTube. I catch up on my favorite creator, whose humor never fails to make me laugh as I do my makeup. It’s a lighthearted way to ease into the day.
Once I’m ready, I pick out my outfit, slip on my shoes, and give my puppy a goodbye treat for being the best morning companion.
8:00 AM: Out the Door
My final step is checking my phone—but not until I’m ready to face the world. This rule helps me stay present and focused during my routine.
And just like that, my day begins.
